Heads or Tails? It's Magician's Choice...
If you're new to the world of magic then you may or may not have heard of a technique called "magician's choice". This is one of those tricks that every magician needs up their sleeve.
If you're a newcomer to the field or are just interested in learning more about magic and illusion then you're going to love this technique. And for you seasoned pros out there? This will be like revisiting an old friend. After all, spend any time in this industry and you'll run into this great technique over and over again. Yep, it's that good.
Here's how it works: magician's choice is a technique that makes the spectator think that he or she is making an independent choice. But really, the magician is carefully guiding that person to make sure they choose exactly what the magician wants them to choose.
It's easier to understand magician's choice when it's used with a spectator. So, let's look at an easy beginner trick called "Heads or Tails" to see this technique in action.
The Trick: Heads Or Tails
Here's how the Heads or Tails trick looks to spectators: you place a nickel, a dime, and a quarter, along with a sealed envelope, on a table. With a bit of prompting from you the spectator chooses one of the coins, and the others are pushed aside. Next, your spectator flips the coin.
Once you've determined whether it's heads or tails you open the envelope and shake out a small piece of paper. That paper reveals exactly what coin was chosen, and whether or not it landed heads or tails. It's an exact prediction that will wow your audience.
